The Metropolitan Opera’s 2024 Summer Recital Series features five free concerts throughout New York City

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2024 Summer Recital Series, now in its 15th season, begins on 18 June 2024 with five free outdoor recitals throughout New York City.

Presented in collaboration with Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage, the first concert will take place at SummerStage in Central Park (Manhattan) on Tuesday 18 June at 8PM, followed by Brooklyn Bridge Park (Brooklyn) on Thursday 20 June at 7PM.

Performing on those evenings are soprano Leah Hawkins, tenor Mario Chang, and bass-baritone Michael Sumuel, all who starred in notable Met premieres earlier this season: Hawkins and Sumuel sang the roles of Louise/Betty and Reginald, respectively, in Anthony Davis’s X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X, and Chang sang the role of Arcadio in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas. Met assistant conductor Dimitri Dover will accompany at the piano.

Rising stars of the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program—soprano Brittany Olivia Logan, mezzo-soprano Hannah Jones, and tenor Matthew Cairns—headline three additional recitals on Monday 24 June at 7PM in Jackie Robinson Park (Manhattan); Wednesday 26 June at 7PM at the Williamsbridge Oval (Bronx); and Friday 28 June at 7PM in Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens). Deborah Robertson, in her first year of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, will join the singers at the piano.

The Met’s Summer Recital Series will feature famous opera arias and duets, as well as other classical favorites.

No tickets are required. There are no rain dates for any of the park recitals. For more information, please
