New Wave Films confirms cinema release for Victor Erice’s ‘CLOSE YOUR EYES’

Following on from sell out screenings at the BFI London Film Festival, New Wave Films has announced that celebrated filmmaker Victor Erice‘s latest film, CLOSE YOUR EYES (Cerrar los ojos), his first full-length film since the 1992 documentary The Quince Tree Sun, will be released in cinemas on 12 April 2024.

A famous Spanish actor, Julio Arenas, disappears while filming a movie. Although his body is never found, the police conclude that he died in an accident at a cliff by the sea. Many years later, the mystery is brought to light once more by a TV programme which asks for the help of Miguel Garay, Julio’s friend and the director of the unfinished film. Returning to Madrid, Miguel is brought back to his past.

Starring Manolo Solo and Jose CoronadoCLOSE YOUR EYES also reunites Erice with actress Ana Torrent, who starred as the 6-year old Ana in The Spirit Of The Beehive 50 years ago. Considered by many to be one of the greatest directors of all time, Erice is back to mesmerise audiences with his fourth feature film.
