BRIAN COX (Logan Roy) will return to London’s West End for the first time in almost a decade to play patriarch James Tyrone in an anticipated new production of Eugene O’Neill’s autobiographical magnum opus, LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin, and co-starring Patricia Clarkson as Mary Tyrone, Alex Lawther as Edmund, BAFTA Award-nominee Daryl McCormack as James Jr. and Louisa Harland as Cathleen, LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT will begin previews at Wyndham’s Theatre on 19 March 2024.
Often regarded as the greatest American play of the 20th Century, O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning piece depicts a summer day in the life of the Tyrones, closely based on O’Neill’s own dysfunctional family. Moving and inspiring in equal measure, O’Neill’s masterpiece is a compelling story of love, hate, betrayal, addiction and the impossible fragility of family bonds.
Following his recent acclaimed production of Best of Enemies, Jeremy Herrin’s new production will bring into sharp focus the universality of O’Neill’s beautifully crafted characters and language.
Sarah Snook (Siobhan “Shiv” Roy) will return to the London stage for the first time since 2016 in the UK premiere of the Sydney Theatre Company‘s critically acclaimed production of Oscar Wilde’s classic novel, THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, which will run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End from Tuesday 23 January to Saturday 13 April 2024.
This stunning modern reworking of Wilde’s devastatingly brilliant story is adapted and directed by Sydney Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Kip Williams. Snook will play every character in the production.
Wilde’s timeless text is revolutionised by William’s celebrated collision of form employing an explosive interplay of video and theatre through an intricately choreographed collection of on-stage cameras bringing to life a dizzying 26 characters, each brought to life by Snook.
Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winner JEREMY STRONG (Kendall Roy) will return to Broadway to star in a new production of Henrik Ibsen’s thunderous drama, AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, featuring a new adaptation by Amy Herzog, and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold.
The production will premiere on Broadway in early 2024 at a theatre to be announced for a strictly limited 16-week engagement.
Set in a small Norwegian spa town, Ibsen’s AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE is about Doctor Thomas Stockmann, a man of principles who discovers that the spa’s water is poisoned. He naively expects the mayor to greet the truth with gratitude, but the town’s political machine will brook no threat to its prosperity, even if it means letting thousands of people be sickened. Doctor Stockmann becomes a whistleblower, and the public campaign against him mounts, setting up a moral battle between a lone truth teller and a society desperate for self-preservation.
Tony nominee PETER FRIEDMAN (Frank Vernon) will star alongside Sydney Lemmon in the world premiere of Max Wolf Friedlich‘s new psychological thriller, JOB, directed by Michael Herwitz, which will play a five-week limited engagement at the Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) Off-Broadway from 18 September 2023.
Jane (Lemmon), an employee at the big tech company (you know the one), has been placed on leave after becoming the subject of a viral video. She arrives in the office of a crisis therapist – Loyd (Friedman) – determined to be reinstated to the job that gives her life meaning.
JOB zooms in on two careerists of different generations, genders and political paradigms to examine what it means to be a citizen of the internet and our obligation to help the people who need it most.
