Lausanne, Switzerland, known for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant cultural scene is set to host a ground-breaking event that will captivate both sports enthusiasts and curious spectators alike. The inaugural edition of the SEGMENT Festival, taking place at the Palais de Beaulieu from September 15th to 17th, will serve as a qualifying stage for the highly anticipated World Skateboarding Tour 2023, paving the way to the grand stage of the Paris 2024 Olympics. This festival promises an immersive experience that seamlessly blends high-octane skateboarding action, a dynamic line-up of renowned artists, captivating films, and thought-provoking conferences.

SEGMENT Festival represents a fusion of competitive sports and artistic expression. As skateboarders from around the world descend upon Lausanne, the Palais de Beaulieu will be transformed into a vibrant festival hub, hosting exhilarating competitions featuring world-class athletes and showcasing the rich cultural fabric of skateboarding.

Beyond the adrenaline-pumping action on the ramps, attendees can immerse themselves in ‘The Village’, a gathering space featuring prestigious skateboarding brands, temporary exhibitions, culinary delights, and engaging conferences exploring topics such as women in sports, the evolving outdoor market, urban-mountain mobility, and extraordinary life stories.

With its innovative approach, the SEGMENT Festival is set to leave an indelible mark on the skateboarding world, heralding the arrival of a new era in competitive sports fuelled by culture and community.

Cascais is located 30 minutes from Lisbon and is known as the ‘Charm of the Atlantic Coast.’ Not only are there beaches in abundance, Cascais is also home to a historic old town and lies within close proximity to Sintra – a region filled with fairy tale palaces perched on rolling hilltops overlooking the coast.

This summer will see the return of the CoolJazz Festival to Cascais, with spectacular live music taking place throughout the whole of July. Previous years have seen the likes of John Legend, Neneh Cherry, Jamie Cullum and Jessie J performing at the sunny Hipódromo Manuel Possolo stage, and 2023’s lineup is no less exciting.

Between 8th July and 29th July, CoolJazz will host six evenings of incredible music, with the following artists announced to headline:

The Austrian capital of Vienna is hosting a number of events across 2023, with two exciting festivals coming up this summer.

Donauinselfest

This year, Vienna will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Danube Island Festival, the largest open-air festival in Europe with free entry. The festival will offer a top-class musical, action-packed and fun programme on the Danube Island, with the festival standing for social cohesion, an affordable and modern Vienna and treating each other with respect.

The festival is taking place between Friday 23rd and Sunday 25th June and is one not to be missed, with 2022’s festival attracting more than 2.5 million attendees across the weekend.

Speaking about the 2023 festival, Matthias Friedrich, managing director of the Pro Event Team for Vienna and project manager of the Danube Island Festival commented:

ImPulsTanz

Also celebrating its 40th anniversary is ImPulsTanz, Vienna’s international dance festival.

The festival will take place for a whole month between 6th July and 6th August 2023, allowing plenty of time to enjoy some of the performances that will be on offer. ImPulsTanz will run across 20 venues in the city, and will feature 68 productions by 56 artists. The performances will use dance to tackle a number of different topics, such as love, art, sex, race, history and friendship.

Gravetye Hotel, July 2022

Gravetye Manor, Sussex

Located in the heart of the Sussex countryside, the idyllic Gravetye Manor welcomes the return of their annual William Robinson Garden Festival this July.

Taking place in the hotel’s historic gardens on 2nd July 2023, the event celebrates the life of pioneering Victorian gardener, William Robinson, who created Gravetye Manor’s gardens back in 1885.

Beginning at 10am, the William Robinson Garden Festival will be a full day of summer celebrations, including garden talks, flower demonstrations, local cheese showcase, Morris dancing and much more. Tickets include a cup of tea or coffee as well as a cake, with all proceeds going to the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.
