Situated in the heart of Times Square at the crossroads of two of New York City’s most famous addresses, 42nd Street and Broadway, Hilton New York Times Square soars some 44 floors above Manhattan and offers stunning, panoramic views of the iconic NYC skyline, making it a perfect destination for anyone looking to spend some time exploring this most renowned of cities.
INTRODUCTION
After a near two-year closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hilton New York Times Square finally reopened its doors in October 2022 following a change in ownership and refurbishments to key areas of the guest areas, including the addition of a new fitness centre, complete with Peloton bikes.
The 478-room hotel previously underwent a major $15m renovation in 2013 which saw new changes to all guest rooms and suites, a renovated lobby with floor-to-ceiling windows and new designs and colour schemes.
Hilton New York Times Square has its main entrance on street level on 42nd Street itself, sandwiched somewhat inconspicuously between an Applebee’s and a Dippin’ Dots ice cream parlour. Once inside, guests then need to take a quick elevator ride up to the 21st floor which will take them to an extensive lobby housing the main reception desk, a spacious bar and the breakfast area, as well as a small convenience shop selling snacks, salads, drinks and accessories.
Once checked in, you then take another elevator – located just to the side of the reception desk – up to your relevant floor. The guest rooms are located between the 23rd and 44th floors.
OUR STAY
For our visit, we stayed in a King Bed Deluxe High Floor (Times Square View) room on the 44th floor. The room was very stylish and spacious (360 sq. ft.) with large windows offering stunning views out across the city skyline and over the Hudson. The decor and furnishings in the room were clean and modern and nicely reflected the style and ambience of the hotel.
The room had a large work desk with an ergonomic chair, perfect for doing some work while in the room, and had a big armchair (with ottoman) for relaxing. The bed was very comfortable with large memory foam pillows.
We stayed on the top floor of the hotel so cannot speak for lower rooms, however the windows were excellent and there was no noise during the night, despite 42nd Street being busy 24/7!
There was plenty of storage in the room, with a large wardrobe and the chest of drawers under the television. Lots of room to walk about in too without feeling cramped or confined.
The shower was not the most powerful, however the bathroom was again very modern and did have a good sized bathtub which was a nice touch. Not many hotel bathrooms do have actual baths in nowadays!
Amenities in the room included: a large 55-inch flat-screen LCD TV, laptop size safe, mini refrigerator hairdryer, iron and ironing board, air conditioning, and plenty of plug sockets/charging points. The hotel also offers high-speed wireless internet access throughout.

Hilton New York Times Square is a 100% non-smoking/non-vaping hotel. A fee of up to $500 will be assessed for smoking.
FOOD & DRINK
The hotel has three options for food and drinks:
- Pinnacle Bar & Lounge – Open from 4 pm – 10 pm Monday – Wednesday & Sunday, and 4 pm – 11 pm Thursday – Saturday.
- Restaurant Above – Open Monday – Friday (6:30 am – 11 am) and Saturday – Sunday (7 am – 12 pm), Restaurant Above is located 21 stories above Times Square and offers a full buffet breakfast including cooked breakfast items, waffles, cereal, pastries, fresh fruit and juices.
- The Market – Open daily from 6:30 am – 10:30 pm, The Market offers a range of salads, sandwiches, drinks and snacks available. Room delivery is also available.
If you don’t have breakfast included in your stay then it can be purchased at an additional cost, but at $55 + TAX for the Full Cooked American Breakfast Buffet it is on the expensive side. Cheaper options are available at The Market, or alternatively there are numerous cafes and breakfast spots located near to the hotel.
AMBIENCE & AMENITIES
The hotel has a really nice relaxed feel to it and caters to all sorts of guests, whether travelling for business or pleasure. It is a four-star hotel and feels quite upmarket, so may not be ideal for more casual, family-friendly stays.
Hilton New York Times Square is a pet friendly hotel and there were a number of guests staying for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show while we were there.
The hotel also has a Fitness Centre with free weights, cardio machines and Peloton bikes.
LOCATION
Hilton New York Times Square is enviably located on 42nd Street in the beating heart of the Times Square area, just a short walk from a number of major attractions, restaurants and theatres. Turn right out the main entrance and Madame Tussauds New York is about 50-feet away. Right across the street is Dallas BBQ, a Regal cinema and a Target should you need to buy anything whilst you are there. A five-minute walk will bring you to many of the main Broadway theatres and shops, as well as Restaurant Row. As far as prime locations go, it doesn’t get much better than this, certainly not for the price.
OVERALL
If you are simply looking for a base whilst on the go and exploring the city, then you may find better, more budget-friendly options available for you a little further out from Times Square. If, however, you are looking for a touch of modern elegance and luxury, right in the heart of the action, and within walking distance of Broadway and Restaurant Row, then Hilton New York Times Square is certainly the hotel for you!
