‘Let the Right One In’ opens at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre next month!

This autumn, Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre will present a brand new production of Jack Thorne’s adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist cult novel, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

Director Bryony Shanahan brings together a cast of nine incredible actors including Pete MacHale as Oskar and Rhian Blundell as Eli, both of whom make their Royal Exchange debuts, alongside Anthony Aje, Daon Broni, Darren Kuppan, Stefan Race, Mercè Ribot, Kyle Rowe, and Andrew Sheridan.

Enchanting and brutal, chilling and beautiful, LET THE RIGHT ONE IN runs in The Theatre from 22 October to 19 November 2022.

In a world where adults are failing them, two teenage outsiders are drawn to each other. One a bullied, isolated teenage boy, the other a feral, lonely and dangerous vampire. And so begins a chilling and unlikely friendship. Separated by centuries and rejected by society they find salvation in each other. This unforgettable vampire story has gained cult status across the world, it is a sharp and reflective coming-of-age story that asks its audience to recognise and value the humanity in us all.

The creative team for LET THE RIGHT ONE IN includes: Designer, Amelia Jane Hankin, Lighting Designer Joshua Pharo, Sound Designer Pete Malkin, Movement Director Yandas Ndlovu and Casting Director Lotte Hines CDG.

The creative team also includes three placements supported by The Hodgkiss Collective  – Assistant Director Savannah Acquah, Design Placement Amy Lowcock and Lighting Design Placement Grace Bastayan.

The Hodgkiss Collective is a new, ambitious and life-changing opportunity for three talented artists from / based in Greater Manchester to benefit from a home at the Royal Exchange Theatre. This pilot scheme offers three artists the opportunity to engage deeply with this new production of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, providing them with comprehensive and wide-ranging insights, alongside embedded knowledge and experience.
