Curve, Leicester announces full casting for ‘West Side Story’

Curve, Leicester has announced full casting for its upcoming Made at Curve production of the hit musical, West Side Story, which runs at Curve from 23 November 2019 to 11 January 2020.

Directed by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, and featuring new choreography by Ellen Kane, the production will star Jamie Muscato as Tony, Adriana Ivelisse as Maria, Carly Mercedes-Dyer as Anita, Jonathan Hermosa-Lopez as Bernardo, and Ronan Burns as Riff. Darren Bennett will play Police Detective Lieutenant Schrank.

The cast also includes Ryan Anderson as A-Rab, Damian Buhagiar as Chino, Thea Bunting as Graziella, Alex Christian as Baby John, Abigail Climer as Consuelo, Isaac Gryn as Action, Beth Hinton-Lever as Anybodys, Katie Lee as Velma, Mireia Mambo as Rosalia, Michael O’Reilly as Diesel, Dominic Sibanda as Indio, Dale White as Big Deal, and Christopher Wright as Officer Krupke and Doc.

Speaking about the cast, Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said:

To bring to life any piece of theatre you need an astonishing group of collaborators and we are proud to have assembled such a talented, imaginative and quintessentially 21st century group of actors, who will celebrate the heritage of this play, whilst rediscovering it for an entirely new generation. Adriana, Carly, Jamie, Jonathan and Ronan lead an outstanding company of actors, who all recognise how important the musical’s message of love and acceptance is in 2019.”

West Side Story is based on a conception of Jerome Robbins, with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
