‘The Goldfinch’ gets a first look poster

Warner Bros. Pictures and Amazon Studios have released a first look poster for director John Crowley‘s forthcoming adaptation of Donna Tartt‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2014 novel, The Goldfinch, out in cinemas nationwide on 27 September 2019.

The film stars a multigenerational cast led by Ansel Elgort as Theo Decker and Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Barbour, and featuring Oakes Fegley as Young Theo, Aneurin Barnard as Boris, Finn Wolfhard as Young Boris, Sarah Paulson as Xandra, Luke Wilson as Larry, and Jeffrey Wright as Hobie.

The cast also includes Ashleigh Cummings, Willa Fitzgerald, Aimee Laurence, Denis O’Hare, Boyd Gaines, Peter Jacobson, Luke Kleintank, Robert Joy, and newcomer Ryan Foust.

Theodore “Theo” Decker was 13 years old when his mother was killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  The tragedy changes the course of his life, sending him on a stirring odyssey of grief and guilt, reinvention and redemption, and even love.  Through it all, he holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day…a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch.  The Goldfinch.
