Warner Bros. Pictures has released a ‘First Look’ teaser trailer and one sheet poster for director, producer and co-writer Todd Phillips‘ standalone crime film, Joker, out in cinemas nationwide on 4 October 2019.
The film stars Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, alongside Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas Hodge, and Josh Pais.
Joker centres around the iconic DC Comics arch villain and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen.
Set in 1981, Joker follows Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a failed stand-up comedian who is driven insane and turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City.
Phillips’ exploration of Fleck, a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
