Nevill Holt Opera announces 2019 Summer Festival

Following the launch of their stunning new 400-seat theatre, Leicestershire-based Nevill Holt Opera have now announced full details for their 2019 Summer Festival, which will open on 12 June 2019 with a new production of Benjamin Britten’s magical opera, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Anna Morrissey and designed by Simon Kenny.

In keeping with the company’s commitment to supporting local talent, the production will star Leicestershire singer Tim Morgan as Oberon, and Daisy Brown as Tytania. The NHO Children’s Chorus will also make a welcome return as the Chorus of Fairies, drawn from the Academy of Schools of the David Ross Education Trust.

The production will feature the Britten Sinfonia, under the baton of Artistic Director Nicholas Chalmers.


A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be followed by an elegant, art-deco staging of Mozart’s high energy tale of love, temptation and partner-swapping, Cosi Fan Tutte, directed by Adele Thomas.

Reviving the original hit production from Northern Ireland Opera, this production will continue the highly successful partnership with Royal Northern Sinfonia under the baton of Nicholas Chalmers.

After the festival closes its doors, Cosi Fan Tutte will journey to Sage Gateshead for two fully staged performances onand 6 July 2019.
