Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre announces 2019 Season

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre have announced full details of their 2019 season, which opens with a new production of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, Our Town, directed by Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre, Ellen McDougall. Our Town runs from 16 May to 8 June 2019.

Continuing their collaboration with English National Opera – following this year’s acclaimed production of The Turn of the Screw – Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and English National Opera will now present Engelbert Humperdinck‘s much loved opera, Hansel and Gretel, directed by Timothy Sheader. Sung in English, and conducted by Ben Glassberg, Hansel and Gretel runs from 14 June to 22 June 2019.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream then returns to the theatre for the first time in seven years from 8 June to  27 July 2019, in a new production directed by Dominic Hill, Artistic Director of the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow.

To conclude the season, Jamie Lloyd will direct a new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s multi-award-winning musical, Evita, from 2 August to 21 September 2019, as Lloyd’s acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar transfers to the Barbican.
