Global curated streaming service MUBI have acquired Jean-Luc Godard‘s innovative new film, THE IMAGE BOOK (Le Livre D’Image), for theatrical and streaming release in the UK.
Playing as part of the official competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Godard’s latest work is a kaleidoscopic and dazzling film essay examining the role of cinema in world history in a characteristically bold and innovative way.
This will be the first theatrical release of a Godard film in the UK since 2010’s Film Socialisme.
The film was produced by Fabrice Aragno of Casa Azul Films and Mitra Farahani of Ecran Noir Productions. The deal was signed with international sales company Wild Bunch Films.
Do you still remember how, long ago, we trained our thoughts? Most often we’d start from a dream… We wondered how, in total darkness, colours of such intensity could emerge within us. In a soft, low voice Saying great things, Surprising, deep and accurate matters. Image and words Like a bad dream written on a stormy night. Under western eyes. The lost paradises. War is here.
