Experience a ‘Macaron Masterclass’ with Hotel du Petit Moulin, Paris

This year, the unique Hotel du Petit Moulin, Paris, will be going back to its baking roots with the launch of it’s new ‘Macaron Making’ travel package.

Located in the historic Le Marais district of the French capital – and housed in the 17th century building that was once home to Paris’ first bakery – the boutique hotel is inviting guests to take part in a macaron masterclass, in a new partnership with one of Paris’ finest cooking schools, La Cuisine Paris, located just down the road from the hotel.

Though the bakery is long gone, the original French Heritage listed shop frontage remains, reminding guests of its former past,  and the Christian Lacroix designed Hotel du Petit Moulin pays firm tribute to its past with an interior and 17 varied rooms that retain many of the original 17th century features and quirks of the building.

Each individually designed room tells a different story of Le Marais, Paris’ oldest quarter; some rooms are bright and daring, others antiquated and more rustic, yet all wonderfully theatrical and playful.

The Macaron Masterclass will see an expert confectionaire take guests through the history and secrets of Paris’ most iconic and stylish sweet treat, before guests have the chance to bake their very own creations.

The two-hour workshop will focus on the technique and creation of these elegant pastries, using the Italian Meringue method and creating two types of Macaron fillings; from producing the batter, to piping, and finally assembling the beautiful macarons in a box to take home!

Set on the banks of the Seine, a short stroll from Hotel du Petit Moulin, La Cuisine Paris is all about the delights of French food, encouraging its guests to learn, cook and eat.

The hotel staff are always on hand to recommend a series of unmissable spots for more macarons, chocolate, bread, cheese and other French culinary treats!

Macaron Making stays with Hotel du Petit Moulin are from €353 based on two people sharing an overnight stay on a B&B basis, with a two-hour macaron masterclass at La Cuisine Paris. Must be booked at least three weeks in advance; subject to availability.
