Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer and Andrew Rannells to lead ‘The Boys in the Band’ on Broadway

Ryan Murphy and David Stone have announced that Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking comic drama, The Boys In The Band, will receive its long-awaited Broadway debut next year in a new production making the play’s 50th Anniversary.

Two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello will direct the production which will play a strictly limited 15-week engagement at the Booth Theatre from 30 April – 12 August, 2018.

The production will star Jim Parsons (pictured), Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer and Andrew Rannells, alongside Robin de Jesus, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington and Tuc Watkins.

Thus groundbreaking 1968 play centers on a group of gay men who gather in a NYC apartment for a friend’s birthday party. After the drinks are poured and the music turned up, the evening slowly exposes the fault-lines beneath their friendships and the self-inflicted heartache that threatens their solidarity.  A true theatrical game-changer, The Boys In The Band helped spark a revolution by putting gay men’s lives onstage – unapologetically and without judgement – in a world that was not yet willing to fully accept them.

Full details, including creative team and on-sale dates to be announces shortly.
