‘India Unboxed’ at the 37th Cambridge Film Festival

As part of the 37th Cambridge Film Festival – which runs from 19th to 26th October, 2017 – the line-up will include a specially curated Indian cinema programme, India Unboxed; a great introduction to the film of India – beyond Bollywood!

The six film programme includes: India’s first fully crowdsourced feature film, INDIA IN A DAY, a lyrical and heartfelt portrait of life in an evolving India, produced by Ridley Scott, Anurag Kashyap, Richie Mehta and GoogleASK THE SEXPERT, a contemporary documentary about popular 93-year-old sex advice columnist, Dr. Watsa; the Cannes prize-winning THE CINEMA TRAVELLERS, an intimate, poignant documentary recalling Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso; the pioneering silent classic, SHIRAZ: A ROMANCE OF INDIA, which comes to Cambridge straight from its Archive Gala presentation at the BFI London Film Festival; Ritwik Ghatak’s landmark drama, THE CLOUD-CAPPED STAR, screening in a rare 35mm print; and Satyajit Ray’s CHARULATA, a true masterpiece of Indian cinema and the director’s favourite of all his films.
