Rosie Kay Dance Company to bring ‘5 Soldiers’ to the Golden Hillock Road Army Reserve Centre, Birmingham

Following sold out shows at Sadler’s Wells and the Edinburgh Fringe, Rosie Kay Dance Company‘s thrilling 5 Soldiers now tours to the Golden Hillock Road Army Reserve Centre, Birmingham for two performance on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October, 2017, presented by Birmingham REP.

The 2017 tour is being performed exclusively in Army bases, unusual spaces for contemporary dance, giving the work extra meaning and power through each location and creating the opportunity for the general public to see inside a world usually distant from their own.

Following an injury on stage, choreographer Rosie Kay was drawn to the connections between soldiers and dancers, and how discipline and rigorous training prepares the body and mind for a job that is all about physicality.

She joined the 4th Battalion The Rifles to watch and participate in full battle exercises, and spent time with injured soldiers at the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre for our Armed Forces, before creating 5 Soldiers, which has since been commended for its contribution to arts and health practice.
