Saint Etienne announce ‘Home Counties’ UK Tour

To coincide with their release of their brand new album ‘Home Counties’ , hitting stores on 2 June, Saint Etienne have announced a series of UK Tour dates, kicking off at London’s Royal Festival Hall on the day of the album’s release.

The tour follows three special warm-up shows at Hebden Bridge Trades Club, Oxford Common People Festival and Barcelona Primavera Sound on Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Wednesday 31st May, respectively.

Released on Vinyl, CD and limited edition cassette, Home Counties features 19 tracks inspired by their bitter-sweet relationship with the eponymous shires that have always been part of their lives.

The album was produced by Shawn Lee of Young Gun Silver Fox, with support from Augustus (Kero Kero Bonito), Carwyn Ellis (Colorama, Edwyn Collins), Robin Bennett (The Dreaming Spires), Richard X (Girls On Top / Black Melody) and long-time collaborator Gerard Johnson (Denim, Yes). It was recorded in central London. Sarah, Bob and Pete commuted to the studio every day for six weeks.

Sarah Cracknell says:

“We had so much fun writing for this album, drawing influence from our teenage years growing up in the home counties. Bob, Pete and I led almost parallel lives while I was in Windsor and they were in Surrey, developing our passion for music and London. Shawn Lee was a joy to work with, he’s a wonderful multi-instrumentalist who seemed to have some kind of telepathy with us and translated our ideas perfectly. The record is quite varied in styles and brings together a little something from all our past albums whilst sounding completely new.”
