ITALIAN TREASURES AT THE 60th BFI LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

Istituto Luce – Cinecittà (Filmitalia) will present a selection of Italy’s finest new films at the forthcoming BFI London Film Festival (5 – 16 October).

The feature films that will be shown are: FIORE, INDIVISIBLE, SWEET DREAMS, THESE DAYS and WORLDLY GIRL.

Claudio Giovannesi’s FIORE was warmly received at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival, where it screened in Directors’ Fortnight.

SWEET DREAMS, directed by Italian auteur and Cannes veteran Marco Bellocchio, and starring Oscar nominated actress Bérénice Bejo, screened in the same section in Cannes, and will be distributed in the UK by Soda Pictures.

INDIVISIBLE premiered in the official Venice Days section at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Pasinetti Award for Best Film, a special mention for the two main actresses (Angela and Marianna Fontana), as well as the Gianni Astrei Award. It also recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was critically lauded for its central performances, and Edoardo De Angelis’ sensitive treatment of the extraordinary tale of conjoined twins contemplating surgical separation.

Marco Danieli’s WORLDLY GIRL also screened in Venice, in the Venice Days section, whereas Giuseppe Piccioni’s coming of age road trip movie THESE DAYS featured in Venice’s main competition.

Istituto Luce – Cinecittà is delighted to be presenting these films in London, offering UK audiences the chance to sample a selection of enlightening and refreshing work from directors both new and established. As in previous years, film-makers will be attending the Festival to take part in Q+As.
