Convict drama Banished to be released on BBC DVD on 20 April

Release Date: 20 April 2015

Penned by award-winning writer Jimmy McGovern, Banished on DVD tells a brutal story about the first British convicts to be shipped to Australia.

Arriving on UK shores on Monday 20th April, the DVD is available to pre-order now from BBC Shop and is also available to download to own from 13th April.

As seen on BBC Two, the epic seven-part series focuses the mis-adventures of prisoners and lovers Elizabeth Quinn (MyAnna Buring, Downton Abbey) and James Freeman (Julian Rhind-Tutt, The Hour) and their fellow convict friend James Freeman (Russell Tovey, Being Human) as they try to survive in the colony, despite desperate food shortages, illness and harsh regulations.

When Elizabeth and Tommy’s illicit relationship is revealed to those in charge, it sets in motion a series of events that forces the pragmatic, idealistic Governor Phillip (David Wenham) into further opposition with his nemesis Major Ross (Joseph Millson). Their relationship also threatens the close bond between Elizabeth, Tommy and James at a time, and in a place, where survival depends on having the support of those you love.

DVD Extras on Banished are ‘Behind-The-Scenes’ which include compelling interviews with cast and crew.
