Film actress Lindsay Lohan is making her stage debut this autumn in David Mamet’s SPEED-THE-PLOW at London’s Playhouse Theatre from 24th September for a strictly limited run.

The role was originated by Madonna in its original Broadway production.

When a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit, film producers Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox are convinced this is the break of a lifetime. That is until Karen (played by Lindsay Lohan), a temporary secretary, derails the dream. When she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favour of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures….

This brilliantly satirical portrayal of Hollywood is by David Mamet, the foremost playwright of his generation and the author of GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, OLEANNA and AMERICAN BUFFALO. A high-octane modern classic, SPEED-THE-PLOW is filled with Mamet’s trademark wit and mesmerizing dialogue.

The stage debut adds to Lohan’s long list of credits including starring roles alongside Meryl Streep in PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION and Jane Fonda in GEORGIA RULE and her work with notable directors Robert Altman and Paul Schrader. She is best known for her starring role in MEAN GIRLS with Tina Fey.

Further casting to be announced.

Lindsay Posner has directed more David Mamet plays in the West End than any other director, including A LIFE IN THE THEATRE with Patrick Stewart and Joshua Jackson, SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO with Matthew Perry and Minnie Driver and OLEANNA with Aaron Eckhart and Julia Stiles.

Recent West End credits for Theatre Royal Bath Productions includes RELATIVE VALUES (Harold Pinter Theatre), ANOTHER COUNTRY (Trafalgar Studios), RELATIVELY SPEAKING (Wyndham’s Theatre) and FENCES (Duchess Theatre).

  1. Honestly, how many actors laughed ’till they vomited when they read this momentous news?

While we’re at it, how could you actually say “multi award-winning film actress Lindsay Lohan”? Last I looked, a TEEN CHOICE AWARD is still considered crap.
