A new Minecraft World Hotel is coming to Chessington World of Adventures in 2027, expanding the ambitious new Minecraft experience beyond the theme park itself.
Developed by Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, the project will combine immersive accommodation, themed dining, family-friendly attractions and the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster in a major new experience for fans in the UK.
Minecraft World Hotel Will Bring The Game To Life
The newly announced Minecraft World Hotel will allow families and Minecraft fans to continue their adventure after leaving the theme park, with almost 70 themed rooms spread across four floors.
The hotel will feature 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms, with the design inspired by Minecraft’s distinctive biomes, characters, mobs, colours, textures and blocks.
From arrival onwards, the experience is designed to feel like stepping inside the game. Blocky trees and animals will bring the Overworld to life around the check-in area, while Nether Portal-inspired lifts and mine tunnel corridors will create a suitably immersive route through the hotel.
Minecraft-Themed Hotel Rooms Across Four Floors
The bedrooms will continue the Minecraft concept, incorporating the game’s recognisable blocks, items, mobs, textures and colours into the design.
The result will be an overnight experience intended to make Minecraft part of the entire visit rather than simply an attraction within the theme park.
Immersive Restaurant And Woodland Mansion Potions Bar
The Minecraft World Hotel will also include an immersive restaurant inspired by Minecraft’s ocean biomes.
Guests will be able to dine within an underwater-themed setting before heading to a bar inspired by the Woodland Mansion, where vibrant potions will form part of the experience.
Minecraft World Theme Park Land Takes Shape
The hotel forms part of a wider £50 million Minecraft World project at Chessington World of Adventures, which is set to open in 2027.
Timelapse footage released alongside the announcement shows the new theme park land taking shape, with construction progressing on the immersive Minecraft environment.
The new land will bring Minecraft into the physical world through family-friendly rides, themed dining and retail, alongside immersive experiences designed around the game’s distinctive visual style.
Escape The Nether To Become The World’s First Minecraft Rollercoaster
At the heart of Minecraft World will be Escape the Nether, the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster.
The attraction will combine indoor and outdoor elements, beginning with a high-speed indoor adventure through dark mines. The ride will then burst out of the building through a Nether Portal and into the Overworld-themed area of Minecraft World.
With danger waiting around every corner, the attraction will place guests inside a Minecraft-inspired adventure before sending them back into the Overworld.
When Will Minecraft World Open At Chessington?
Minecraft World and the Minecraft World Hotel are scheduled to open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027.
The resort is located in Greater London and is described as being just 35 minutes by direct train from London Waterloo, making the new attraction accessible for families and Minecraft fans travelling from London.
The project represents a major expansion of the resort and one of Merlin Entertainments’ most ambitious recent theme park developments.
With construction already taking shape and the opening planned for 2027, Minecraft World is set to introduce a substantial new Minecraft experience to Chessington World of Adventures.
