Capcom revealed the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance during the PlayStation State of Play September 2026 broadcast, offering a new look at the monsters, locale, story, and new gameplay mechanics coming to the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds expansion.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will be released in 2027 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Following the main story of Monster Hunter Wilds™, the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team is suddenly beset by the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung.
The devastation left by this sudden arrival inspires the construction of Madoi Stronghold to prepare for Lao-Shan Lung’s eventual reappearance.
As the Expedition Team builds their fortress, the mists obscuring Wyveria’s skies gradually recede, revealing the Skybound Eyrie: a new locale floating high above the clouds that features ancient ruins and undiscovered endemic life.

In the years following the climactic encounter with Arkveld, members of the Expedition Team have continued to grow and change.
The new trailer reveals that Nata, the young Keeper is now supporting the Expedition Team accompanied by Bangard, a Wudwud that is particularly fond of Nata.
Together, this intrepid pair will overcome strange abnormalities with the Expedition Team in the Skybound Eyrie, such as unseen Guardian Monsters and the Elder Dragons invading the Forbidden Lands.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance advances the story of the Monster Hunter Wilds as the Expedition Team’s adventure soars to a new locale set amongst the clouds.
In the expansion, hunters will explore islands in the sky and wield explosive new abilities that evolve the gameplay and take the hunting action to new heights.
The challenge will also rise to a whole new level with the return of Elder Dragons and Master Rank content.
What do you think of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance? The new trailer has revealed a mysterious new world in the Skybound Eyrie, new gameplay mechanics and the return of Elder Dragons.
