‘Planet Zoo 2’ Launches This October With Aquatic Animals, Flying Species & Wildlife Reserves

Frontier's acclaimed zoo management series returns with aquariums, aviaries, deeper conservation systems and its most ambitious animal simulation yet

PLANET ZOO 2, the anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Planet Zoo, will officially launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 13 October 2026 from Frontier Developments plc.

Building upon the beloved original game, this upcoming new sequel will feature both aquatic and flying species, alongside a deeper conservation focus. Let creativity soar in Frontier’s most advanced zoo simulation game to date.

PLANET ZOO 2 introduces new awe-inspiring animals, plus, for the first time aviaries and aquariums! Zookeepers are tasked with constructing beautiful habitats where authentic species can fully interact with their environments. What’s more, players can now take conservation outside of their zoos, restoring natural habitats and releasing animals into Wildlife Reserves.

PLANET ZOO 2 represents a generational leap forward in animation and animal behaviour.

From high-fidelity fur, feathers, and scales through to authentic behaviour and brachiation, in PLANET ZOO 2, players will encounter a wide range of animals, each with their own needs.

Meeting these needs will require Zookeepers to craft habitats that mirror species’ natural environments, creating an authentic home for the animals and an amazing experience for the guests.

A new world beneath the water awaits Zookeepers with fully aquatic species making their debut with a splash. Black-tipped Reef Sharks, Hawksbill Turtles, and colourful shoals of fish are just a handful of the fresh and saltwater animals joining the new game.

Notably, aquariums are not simply placeable tanks but fully customisable habitats that grant players control over scenery, location, and more. Plus, Zookeepers will have to ensure their aquariums are kept in top condition with filtration and an airlock for staff to enter.

Frequent flyers also enter the fold with aviaries featuring a mix of bright and brilliant fully flying birds, including the vibrant Toco Toucan and majestic Secretary Bird. Like aquariums, aviaries are fully editable, with players able to place scenery as they please.

Aviaries introduce support poles which allow players to generate habitat covers at the click of a button. Zoo guests can even walk through suitable aviaries, creating opportunities for guest entertainment.

Conservation goes further than ever before. Zookeepers will take on conservation projects across the globe, revitalising expansive Wildlife Reserves and creating living ecosystems by releasing animals into their natural habitats.

From ensuring animals are kept in habitats that mirror their natural environments to creating immersive spaces for zoo guests to interact and learn, PLANET ZOO 2 offers players a meaningful management experience.

From managing staff morale and training to constructing the perfect habitat, it’s vital for budding Zookeepers to balance guest satisfaction with animal wellbeing in order to boost their rating and ensure their zoo becomes a roaring success as it grows.

This introduces an additional six animal species from across the globe, as well as a selection of exclusive animal signs to decorate their park.
