The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, has announced the release of the LEGO Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Classic Movie Set.
Inspired by the iconic 1971 film, this detailed model combines nostalgic storytelling with a creative building experience.
A Dream Brought to Life
The set allows fans to step into Willy Wonka’s magical factory and build their own dreamland, brick by brick. It serves as both a display piece and an interactive model, giving builders a chance to relive memorable moments from the classic movie.
Iconic Characters Included
The set features nine minifigures. These include Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and two Oompa Loompas.
Each figure can be placed across the colourful scenes of the chocolate factory, recreating the film’s most beloved sequences.
Designed by LEGO Fans
Italian designers Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano created the model through the LEGO Ideas programme. The platform allows fans to submit concepts, which are then voted on by the LEGO community. Once a design reaches enough support, it has the chance to become a real LEGO set.
Ceruti and Padulano explained that nostalgia drove their vision. The build took several months, starting with the most iconic movie moments. Thanks to new LEGO elements, they refined the chocolate bridge, improved the candy tree design, and introduced a motorised waterfall to make the set stand out.
Packed with Authentic Details
Every corner of the set captures details from the film. A turning dial activates the chocolate waterfall, while the famous Wonkatania boat carries Willy Wonka, the Oompa Loompas, and the five Golden Ticket winners down the chocolate river. The Augustus Gloop figure even includes an alternate head featuring his chocolate-covered face.
Additional features include Willy Wonka’s office with a secret door, the Oompa Loompas’ work area, and candy cane trees and lollipop plants throughout.
The LEGO Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Classic Movie Set will launch on 15th September 2025 for LEGO Insiders with early access at LEGO.com/WillyWonka. It will then become available to all customers from 18th September 2025 at LEGO Stores and LEGO.com. The set is priced at 219.99 EUR, 199.99 GBP, and 219.99 USD.
