‘AVATAR’ confirmed for the Royal Albert Hall’s ‘Films in Concert’ series this October!

James Cameron’s record-breaking 2009 blockbuster, AVATAR, will receive its world premiere as a Films in Concert extravaganza at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 27 October 2024.

The event will see the classic sci-fi film screened in full, with James Horner’s stunning score performed live on stage by a world-class orchestra, choir and soloists.

The film is the third Cameron-Horner collaboration to be presented at the venue by Avex Classics International (ACI), following Titanic Live in 2015 – which was one of the composer’s final public appearances – and Aliens Live in 2016, attended by Cameron and star Sigourney Weaver.

The Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert series launched in 2009, harking back to the Hall’s heritage as a place to experience cinema with live musical accompaniment during the heyday of silent film. In the past 15 years, it has curated a programme of classic films whose unforgettable scores have been performed by the likes of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Titles have ranged from beloved musicals (Singin’ in the RainWest Side Story) to canonical classics (Breakfast at Tiffany’sThe Godfather) and contemporary blockbusters (InterstellarSkyfall).

Upcoming films in the series include The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Top Gun: Maverick, Ghostbusters (1986), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Tickets from Avatar priced from £30 are on sale from Friday at www.royalalberthall.com, with a pre-sale for the venue’s Friends and Patrons 24 hours earlier.
