BFI IMAX celebrates the 10th anniversary of Alfonso Cuarón‘s technically ground-breaking, Academy Award-winning tour de-force, GRAVITY (2013), with a screening of the newly remastered IMAX with Laser version of the film.
This extra special presentation on 4 October 2023 will be followed by an in conversation Q&A with director Alfonso Cuarón and fellow critically acclaimed filmmaker Gaspar Noé live at BFI IMAX.
In GRAVITY, Sandra Bullock plays scientist Dr Ryan Stone, who finds herself trapped above the Earth when the debris from a destroyed satellite, travelling at the speed of a bullet, tears apart her spacecraft. Using all her wits, Stone tries to figure out a way to get home before the orbiting debris returns.
Employing state-of-the-art visual effects and digital 3D technology, Alfonso Cuarón creates a white-knuckle-ride of a film that is breathtakingly beautiful and questions our place within the vast expanse of the universe.
Originally premiering in the UK at the BFI London Film Festival 2013, where it received a rapturous reception, the BFI now welcomes Alfonso Cuarón to BFI IMAX to celebrate his sci-fi masterpiece on the UK’s largest screen, the centrepiece of the Sci-fIMAX: Into the Future, Now! autumn sci-fi programme.
