With filming set to begin in the UK tomorrow, Netflix has announced full casting for director David Michôd‘s anticipated drama, The King, set to launch on Netflix in 2019.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Henry IV and Henry V, the film sees a young, disgraced prince Hal inherit the crown and learn what it means to be a king, all the while guided by his one true friend, Falstaff.
Timothée Chalamet will star as Hal alongside Joel Edgerton as Falstaff, Robert Pattinson as The Dauphin, Ben Mendelsohn as King Henry IV, Lily-Rose Depp as Princess Catherine, Sean Harris as William, Tom Glynn-Carney as Hotspur, and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie as Philippa.
The King is co-written by Joel Edgerton and David Michôd and produced by Plan B, along with Porchlight Films’ Liz Watts, Joel Edgerton and David Michôd.
