Scott Sanders Productions has today announced that the world premiere of the new comedy musical, TOOTSIE, will play a pre-Broadway engagement at Broadway In Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre this autumn, running from 11 September to 14 October, 2018, prior to a Broadway run in spring 2019.
With an original score by Tony Award nominee David Yazbek, a book by Robert Horn (based on the story by Don McGuire and Larry Gelbart, and the Columbia Pictures Motion Picture), choreography by Tony Award nominee Denis Jones, and musical direction by Andrea Grody, TOOTSIE will be directed by eight-time Tony Award nominee and Olivier Award winner, Scott Ellis, and star Tony Award nominee, Santino Fontana, as struggling actor Michael Dorsey (played in the film by an Academy Award nominated Dustin Hoffman).
TOOTSIE tells the story of a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work until an audacious, desperate stunt lands him the role of a lifetime.
The Tony Award-winning design team for TOOTSIE includes scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer William Ivey Long, lighting designer Donald Holder, and sound designer Brian Ronan.
TOOTSIE is co-produced by James L. Nederlander and Sally Horchow International Productions.
Additional casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.
