Celebrate National Poetry Day at St Pancras International

To celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 28th September 2017, St Pancras International is hosting a series of exclusive, free events in partnership with annual young poets’ competition, the ‘Betjeman Poetry Prize’ and poetry charity; ‘Poet in the City.’

Adding to its calendar of new and exciting arts and music experiences, visitors to the station will enjoy live poetry performances and events throughout the day.

The line-up includes the hotly anticipated Betjeman Poetry Prize Awards ceremony, led by prize Director and Betjeman’s granddaughter, Imogen Lycett Green; with the young winner becoming the station’s third ‘St Pancras Laureate’. Celebrations will also give visitors the opportunity to discover some of the newest and brightest poets from across the globe, as ‘poet buskers’ descend on the station for one day only.

Isobel Colchester, Chief Executive, Poet in the City:

“To be able to put poetry on such a large platform and to engage with people who wouldn’t normally encounter poetry is incredibly important, and we are delighted and thankful to St Pancras International for their collaboration on this project. At a time where the topic of freedom and travel is so poignant in people’s minds, it’s a great opportunity to share ideas and feelings through such a creative outlet.’’
