Halloween never fails to impress with the wealth of themed events and days out on offer, and of course this year is no different.
To help you decide, we have highlighted what we believe are some of the most intriguing and spine tingling options available.

BREAKOUT MANCHESTER
One of Manchester’s most enjoyable and addictive alternative entertainment venues, Breakout Manchester is an absolute essential must do for families, friends and colleagues alike.
The concept is simple. You are locked in a room of your choice for an hour and have to solve a series of puzzles and mysteries to escape. You will have to search high and low for clues and work together if you want to escape.
Each room is a different game and has a unique theme and story.
Horror fans, why not try their new abandoned basement themed room Captured, just launched in time for Halloween.

DERREN BROWN’S GHOST TRAIN
Thorpe Park
A world’s first one-of-a-kind experience like you have never seen before, Derren Brown has officially re-invented the Ghost Train for the 21st Century with the world’s only fully immersive psychological attraction designed to manipulate the human mind.
At the heart of the island you discover a disused warehouse. As you enter a seemingly innocent Victorian train carriage it soon becomes clear as sights and sounds fill your senses that you are about to come face to face with what lies at the end of the line.

ROALD DAHL: A FRIGHTSOME HALLOWEEN
Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire
Saturday 22nd to Sunday 30th
This half term, be spine chillingly entertained by a park-full of witchy mischief.
You’re invited to the Spooktacular Halloween Party at The Witches’ Hotel Magnificent.
Find all the ingredients for Formula 86 Delayed Action Mouse-Maker whilst you keep an eye out for real witches who like nothing more than using the potion to turn children into mice! In the depths of the Hall is the creepy witches sweet shop laboratory.
The park’s very own witch spotters will be on hand to help and there’ll be spooky storytelling in the eerie barn. 11am – 4pm (last entry 3pm)
In The Mansion:
Step into the Mansion where some very unfortunate children have eaten the witches’ poisoned sweets and turned into mice. Help find them amongst the magnificent Mansion’s treasures and bustling servants quarters. 12pm – 4pm (last entry 3pm)
In The Gardens:
Go hunting for witches in the huge mysterious Gardens but expect gruesome surprises along the way. 10am – 6pm
At The Farm:
When the clock chimes it’s time to stop your cackling and collect your conker from the Witches’ Tree and take part in the creepy, chilling conker challenge.

ALTON TOWERS SCAREFEST
21 – 31 October
Now in its eleventh year, the annual Alton Towers Scarefest for another year of terrifying scares, immersive thrills and spooktacular family fun.
2016 looks set to be the biggest Scarefest event to date with the arrival of a few spooky new attractions outlined below.
Scare Mazes
NEW! Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover the Legend of the Skin Snatchers – Tour the depths of a damp disused mine, which is believed to have once been home to a family of village outcasts with a dark, spine-chilling secret. (Age15+)
Sub Species: The End Games – The award-winning maze returns! A post-apocalyptic experience, sewer dwelling community have been infested by a species from another world. (Age15+)
Terror of the Towers: What Lies Within – Journey the undiscovered passageways of gothic towers to discover the dark secrets that await. (Age 12+)
Scare Zones
After dark the two Scare Zones, Dark Apocalypse and the NEW Freak Show come alive! Each filled with its own free-roaming, gruesome residents.
Rides In The Dark
Experience all your favorite rollercoasters in the dark until 9pm.
Family Fun
NEW! House of Monsters – Join our monster hunting vlogger on his quest to discover the truth about the residents of a spooky disused house. But is it a case of mistaken identity or has he really discovered a groups of 21st century ghouls? (Age 8+)
Families will also get to enjoy Halloween frights at the Resort with Skelvin’s Spooky Storytime, Phil & Franklyn’s Ghoul School, and Patch’s Trick-Or-Treat Party.
Cbeebies Land is open until 7pm during Scarefest.

SHIVER M’ TIMBERS
Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich
29 & 31 October | 6pm
This Halloween delve into regions dark and unexplored beneath the Old Royal Naval College in our spooky interactive theatre experience.
Beneath Christopher Wren’s enlightened buildings, tunnels and dungeons from older constructions still remain, haunted by the ghouls of ancient admirals and drowned mariners.
Your job is to help to ward away the spirits of scurvy sailors, Victorian mourners, and ancient servants lingering amongst the foundations of the old Tudor palace.
Listen to characters’ deeds of mischief-making, mud larking, misery and murder.
After these harrowing events, share your ghostly experiences as you enjoy a complimentary ghoulish cocktail in the Queen Mary Bar.

BODMIN JAIL: AFTER DARK
The UK’s Most Haunted Venue
Explore the jail after dark in the company of Bodmin’s Resident Medium, who has over 10 years experience at the Jail.
As an experienced Psychic Medium and Energy Therapist, he will tutor inmates in the basics of Reiki and energy management before putting them to work for the night behind bars in this formidable County Jail.
The event begins at 8.45pm with a set 3 course meal and time for inmates to get to know each other, before delving into the history, and footprints of the past.
Specific workshops run throughout the night, before you return to the living world at 5am.
Please note: Tea and coffee facilities are available throughout the night and a function room and toilets will be on hand. You are welcome to bring snacks and/or refreshments yourselves; no alcoholic drinks are permitted during the course of the event. Please bring warm clothing as temperatures get very cold in the lower areas of the prison and do not forget a torch and/or a camera for pictures.

ISLE OF FRIGHT GHOST TRAIL
Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is widely known as one of the most haunted islands in the world. Ghosts and spirits who are yet to move on dwell near the leylines that lie within the Island’s landscape.
The stories of these ghosts have fascinated residents over the years and brought many ‘ghost tourists’ to the Island, hoping to catch a glimpse of the shadowy spirits.
In a spooky twist on the traditional tourist guide, the free to download Isle of Fright Ghost Trail app is once again available for a limited time only.
Available until the end of November, the app takes users on a tour of 13 ‘cold spots’ across the Island. Users can listen to a spine-tingling tale of past events and ‘ghost bomb’ their selfies.
The Isle of Fright app has been updated as part of promotions to celebrate the forthcoming ‘Rings’, a new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise, written by David Loucka and Jacob Estes and Akiva Goldsman, directed by F. Javier Gutierrez.
