The Five and Dime Picture Show, with generous help from SHU Fest, The Ingmar Bergman Foundation and AB Svensk Filmindustri , are very proud to present special free 50th anniversary screening of Ingmar Bergman’s Persona on 35mm.

Released in 1966, Persona is now considered one of the major works of the 20th century by essayists and critics such as Susan Sontag who referred to it as Bergman’s masterpiece.

Other critics have described it as “one of this century’s great works of art”.In the British Film Institute’s 2012 Sight & Sound poll, Persona was ranked the 17th greatest film ever made in the critics’ poll (tied with Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai”) and 13th in the directors’ poll.

Persona will take place in The Void, which is on Level One of Sheffield Hallam’s Owen Building. You can access The Void by taking the main lifts to floor one in Owen and The Void will be signposted from there.
