Park Circus at the 67th Cannes Film Festival

Worldwide classic film distributor Park Circus is pleased to announce seven films represented by the company have been selected for the 67th Cannes Film Festival.

Selected for the Official Selection Cannes Classics lineup is Sony Pictures’ spectacular 4K restoration of Frank Capra’s lush epic, Lost Horizon. A winner of two Academy Awards®, this restored and previously unseen version of Capra’s big budget extravagant fantasy drama will receive its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film screens on May 17th at 5pm CET in the Salle Buñuel.

Joining the Cannes Classics lineup is the Cohen Film Collection’s Jamaica Inn. Restored in 4K thanks to a collaboration between tbe Cohen Film Collection and the British Film Institute, Alfred Hitchcock’s adaptation of the novel by Daphne du Maurier stars magnificent performances from Charles Laughton and Maureen O’Hara and was the director’s final British film before leaving for America. The 4K restoration of Jamaica Inn receives its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 22nd at 9pm CET in the Salle Buñuel, marking the film’s 75th anniversary.

Five titles from Park Circus will screen on the Cinéma de la Plage this year, including a 4K restoration from MGM Studios and Cineteca Bologna of Sergio Leone’s Spaghetti Western classic, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Clint Eastwood’s return as the Man With No Name resulted in what is widely regarded as not only the best instalment from Leone’s Dollar trilogy but one the greatest Westerns ever made. It screens on May 17th at 9.30pm CET.

Walter Hill’s cult classic The Warriors marks its 35th anniversary with a screening on the Cannes Beach. Its enduring tale of rival gangs set in the atmospheric streets of New York remains a visually impressive work. A new 2K DCP from Paramount Pictures will premiere in Cannes, screening on May 20th at 9.30pm CET.

John Waters’ Polyester returns in a new digital print bringing some fun to the beach as audiences will receive prompts to ‘scratch and sniff’ using ‘Odoroma’ cards that will be handed out at the screening. This spoof suburban melodrama is classic John Waters and will premiere in a new 2K DCP from Warner Bros. Pictures on May 22nd at 9.30pm CET.

The Palme d’Or-winning Pulp Fiction celebrates its 20th anniversary on the Cannes Beach. Quentin Tarantino’s cult hit was an instant sensation worldwide. Its interwoven narrative cutting between different characters and stories created an action-packed box office triumph that remains one of the most popular films of all time. Pulp Fiction will screen in a new 2K DCP from Miramax on May 23rd at 9.30pm CET.

Flamboyant rock musical, Purple Rain closes the Beach screenings lineup. The theatricality of Prince’s stage shows is replicated here in his film debut. With a narrative that loosely references Prince’s early career, Purple Rain became a cult phenomenon backed up with an iconic soundtrack from one of pop’s best-known stars. A new 2K DCP from Warner Bros. Pictures will screen on May 24th at 9.30pm CET.
