Released just over one hundred years on from its subject’s death on the 29th July 1890, this poignant and beautifully crafted portrait of the final 67 days of the great Dutch post-Impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh was to be the penultimate (and perhaps finest) achievement from the great French director Maurice Pialat; one of the more overlooked filmmakers of the late Twentieth Century.
